Wrexham vs Stockport County preview

Just as the wheels appear be, if not coming off, certainly wobbling, County’s next opponents are table toppers Wrexham. Will this fixure bring out the very best in the team and the manager? It will need to if we are to avoid a stuffing.

Now I have got over my depression at losing to Darlo, especially after my last super optimistic match preview, I still believe we can get something from this game. Here is why.

1. Piergianni is back. The young kid was missed in Tuesday’s goal-fest. He has served his one match suspension (for the harsh sending off at Cambridge) and I expect the back four to be stiffer.

2. I cannot see Didi trying to go all out attack. Let’s get back to those 1-1 draws away from home. We will surely play 4-5-1 for this game

3. Although Wrexham are top, it is their away record that is eye-popping with 6 wins, one draw and one defeat. At home they have been beaten twice (1-3 to Mansfield and 0-3 to York) and have scored an average 10 goals but conceded 7. Does this suggest they are better counter-attacking and teams that park the bus at the Racecourse Ground may just get something?

Clutching at straws? Maybe. Hands up all who would be happy with a 1-1 draw though?

May I be super-optimisitic again and say we could just nick it 0-1 ?*

Animo et fide County brothers and sisters.
