Young Resigns as County gaffer

Neil Young last night resigned as manager of Stockport County.

Young’s support staff have left too. Rumour has it someone left the lights on before the door slammed shut.

And so another chapter in the manager merry-go-round begins.

IF Young as it seems, has resigned rather than waiting to be pushed, then he has saved the club a lot of money and I think every County fan should thank him for that.

I must say my thinking up until very recently was to review things at the end of the season, and even to give Young his second year to get the club out of this regional football league.

After Saturdays performance though, I changed my mind, in common with a lot of people sat near me. Young could not wait to get down the tunnel at full time amidst derision from sections of the leaving Cheadle end crowd.

The writing was on the wall I guess.

Vital Stockport wishes Mr. Young all the best for the future.

Where does this leave County though now? This season is a write off.

As a squad have we come any further forward from 12 months ago?

No batch of promising youngsters coming through to blossom in the next 12 months. A squad full of players who may not be exactly fully motivated.

The only target this season is to ensure we remain in the National North and I wonder whether we could blood a younger player or two as well?

Who next for manager?

Andy Precce? Curently director of Football at Airbus UK in the Welsh league where he has done well for sure.

Flynn? Really not sure he has the experience yet.

Or him.

What price Mike Flynn as caretaker with help from Alan Lord until the end of the season.

Then the return of him over the summer? Now, wouldn’t that shift some season tickets!
