County Statement – Evans’ bid meeting postponed

The following statement regarding Tony Evans’ bid to take a majority stake in County has been released by SCFC.

The shareholders meeting which was scheduled for this morning, to discuss Tony Evans proposals, has been postponed until further notice.

‘We have two outstanding matters that need to be resolved before any proposal can be put before the shareholders. The first is a financial matter involving, in Tony Evans view, a sum of £200,000 which he feels existing shareholders should contribute immediately. This figure is disputed by shareholders who collectively feel that these are not debts but are part of the day to day costs of the football club.’

‘It is hoped that further negotiation will take place in order that a compromise between the two sides can be reached.’

‘The shareholders, at this time, still do not know the composition of the Tony Evans’ consortium. This information is essential before any transaction goes ahead.’

‘On behalf of the football club and the shareholders I hope that the continued negotiations will bring about a successful conclusion.’

So, ‘no deal’ looking the most likely outcome then.

And this latest statement comes after Conduit (Rod Gunner’s group) met with Stockport Council this past week regarding a take-over of County.

The group now seem favourites to take over the club.

Let’s see what Evans can muster up in reply.
