Manager Didi Hamann has chosen ex-Celtic coach Willie McStay as his new assistant at Edgeley Park as Ray Mathias opts to leave.
McStay, who had a winless spell in charge at Ross County last season, will join Hamann’s revolution this week.
Mathias, departing the club after 7 months, said to BBC Radio:
“I’m a little bit sad but I enjoyed my time there.”
“It was absolutely fantastic, a lovely family club – the fans were absolutely brilliant, I couldn’t ask for any more from them.”
“I had a good rapport with the fans and with everybody round the football club and I was absolutely delighted when I got the job.”
“I would have worked my socks off to try and get them back in the Football League.”
Good luck to Ray wherever he goes in the future.
