SHOCK! Melrose Take-Over Bid Fails..Again.

Jim Melrose’s bid to buy Stockport County has failed AGAIN as the Football league refused to transfer the shares over to the Melrose Consortium to complete the take-over.

The Football League are apparently unhappy with some outstanding issues with the consortium, scarily ‘the only viable consortium to buy SCFC’, and so have ordered a meeting with the administrators solicitors to iron out (hopefully!) these issues and move on. At some point. We’ll probably be given a new date now. So far it’s been the start of this season, the end of September, 19th of November, mid-way through December, 14th January…I’ll go for the 1st April. Or I would do, but this is getting beyond a joke.

Anyway, administrators Leonard Curtis have just released this statement:

Stockport County Association Football Club Limited (SCFC) entered into administration on 30 April 2009, with the appointment of John Titley and Paul Reeves, Directors at Leonard Curtis, as Joint Administrators.

This statement is an update from the administrators.

‘As indicated previously, the Football League Board met yesterday (14 January) to consider the proposed transfer of the Football League Share to the Melrose Consortium.’

‘Unfortunately, we understand that they were unable to recommend that the Football League Share be transferred at this time as there were still some issues to be resolved. We have requested that the Football League confirm what matters remain outstanding and have offered our assistance to both the Football League and the Melrose Consortium to resolve these matters if possible.’

Any room for one more in the Unibond?
