Southend Vs County

It’s dead rubber time again for County as a few hundred Hatters fans make the trip down to Southend for the weekend to get absolutely hammered both on and off the pitch.

Southend are also relegated, making the match equally as pointless for our fellow League 2-er’s next season.

Two goals from now Southampton striker Lee Barnard flattened County at Edgeley Park in the reverse fixture, a match noted for County’s complete loss of discipline after an appalling performance from the referee resulted in eight bookings for the County.

Today has been notable as the 2015 Group have submitted their final bid to the Football League, with their detailed Business Plan on how they plan on keeping the club viable – a statement will be released tomorrow from Sean Connolly on behalf of the 2015 Group.

Vital Quotes:

Gary Ablett: ‘From my point of view, I don’t regret taking the job on.

‘It’s been a steep learning curve but I still believe that, given the right personnel, I can make this football club into a competitive one next year.’

Southend Team News:

Southend will be without skipper Adam Barrett, Jean-Francois Christophe and Francis Laurent for the match.

Bizarrely, all three were substituted in a 2-2 draw with Oldham, with all three picking up the same injury.

18 year-old striker Harry Crawford is in line for his first ever league start after progressing through the Youth Team.

Player to watch: Franck Moussa

Franck ‘The Tank’ Moussa is the engine room in the Southend midfield – the big Belgian is a unit in the centre of the park and has impresses this season in an otherwise poor year for the Shrimpers.

County Team News:

Cursed Matty Mainwaring sits out the last two games of the season after breaking his wrist rather horribly after just recovering from a 10-month broken leg injury.

Johnny Mullins has been ‘dodgy’ for the past few games and is a doubt according to Roger Wylde.

Young striker Cameron Darkwah may be in line for a place on the bench, and I understand ‘impressive’ trialist Frank Danquah was pushing for a place in the side, though he cannot be added to the squad.

Player to watch: ?

Absolutely no idea?

None of them at all if last week’s thrashing is anything to go by!
