The Stockport County Supporters` Co-operative are delighted to announce that the inaugural Hatters Half marathon, which took place on Sunday 6th September, raised a fantastic £3,633 for our Guardian Fund initiative.

Our runners also raised sponsorship money for various charities including our partner The Wellspring, Cancer Research, British Red Cross, St Anns Hospice, Baby Beat Appeal, Alzheimers Society, Sturge Weber UK, The Christie, Rett Appeal and Bowel and Cancer Research.

In total 338 runners took part in the race, the male winner was Damian Nicholls from Wilmslow Running Club in a time of 1hr 15mins 36 seconds and the female winner was Annette Bowden in 1:26:29.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part in the first Hatters Half.

Starting at Edgeley Park and finishing in Alexandra Park, the race passed along Northgate Road and Brinksway, before joining the Trans Pennine Trail at The Woolpack Bridge.

The scenic route followed the River Mersey to Northenden, before forming a loop and returning to Alexandra Park. www.hattershalf.co.uk

The Co-operative will be transferring circa £4,000 to The Guardian Fund, which will increase the total balance to £17,000.

The Guardian Fund is intended to raise a collectively-owned lump sum to invest in the club, in genuine, equal partnership with like minded investors.

This fund can and will make a major difference, to help acquire a stake for supporters in the club and secure assets for the benefit of the club.

The intention is to build up the Guardian Fund via a series of events, utilising the fantastic facilities we have at Edgeley Park, but additional contributions – either as a one off or regular contribution would be very welcome.

Supporters can donate via Bank Account Number: 65510425, Sort Code: 08-92-99 or PayPal – http://www.countysupporterscoop.co.uk/guardian-account/

We would like to thank all the runners, volunteers, exhibitors, supporters, visitors, Stockport MBC, Manchester MBC and sponsors (particularly Robinson`s Brewery, Sweat Shop, Site Supply, Nestle Pure Life and Seaborn Monk) who helped made this such a well received event.

So…building on the success of Hatters Half 2015, the Supporters Cooperative has agreed to promote the race again in 2016.

Provisionally the date has been set at Sunday 4 September 2016
