County Gain Point With 10 Men

Stockport County overcame the first half dismissal of midfielder Alex Kenyon to gain a battling point at Ebbsfleet on Saturday.

Darije Kalezic brought in Cirak in replacement for Mark Cullen, as the young Hull loanee was rested following a tough run of games recently.

In truth it was a drab game with a very picky referee. Kenyon was given a straight red for supposedly leading with his elbow into a challenge, whilst Halls, Fagbola and Cirak also picked up yellow cards.

Liam Enver-Marum and Josh Scott had the best chances for Ebbsfleet, but the tale of the tape is that too many draws will cost Ebbsfleet this season and more than likely see them go down.

Johan Hammer made his County debut as he was brought on at half time to replace Hattersley as County went more defensive in the second half.

Connor Jennings, in his last game for County, had a couple of good half chances in the second half, before County nearly took the lead in bizarre circumstances through a mis-placed back pass that went just wide of the Ebbsfleet goal.

However the game drifted to an end without a real threatening spell from Ebbsfleet, and all in all it will be a point gained for Darije Kalezic’s men.

After some early chances for Ebbsfleet due to our inept defending again, the team settled. there was little between the two sides until Kenyon was sent off for a challenge that looked identical to the one committed on Hattersley shortly before that didnt even get a yellow. The refereeing was poor throughout. Its early days to assess Cirak but based on this performance he was poor. Clearly was not prepared to get involved with anything of a physical nature and looked totally lossed. Jennings as ever chased everything, was involved in all phases of play. We are going to miss him. Hammer did well when he came on. Overall a hard earned point well deserved. Weve got to sort this back 4 out though.

Didn’t go to the game NE but hearing your view on our performance is a little concerning…..agree we have got to sort out our defence, hopefully 3 points tonight though.

Illuminating stuff NE. I am sure the new gaffer must have worked this out for himself now? In which case we must expect a couple more loanees (if we are not at the limit already?). Keep them away day reports coming they are invaluable to us home game only fans !

Oh dear what an inept performance against a truly garbage Tamworth side, I am so disappointed with the way we played and give NE report on how we performed in our last game then I may be a little premeture in thinking we may have turned the corner with our progress
