The Hatters take on Ramsbottom United in their latest pre-season game at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium tomorrow night, kick off 7-45pm.

Directions: M66 (North) to J1, take A56 towards Ramsbottom. After 1 mile turn left down Bury New Road. Turn left after disused Paper Mill (just before the railway crossing) along the road running parallel with East Lancs Railway line. Ground at bottom.

So another chance to weed out those who can cut football at Conference North level from those who are more suited to even lower levels of the football pyramid. If we play to the same pattern – likely first team in the first half and then fringe players and hopefuls in the second half – I would expect County to come in ahead at half-time and with a clean sheet.

The start of the season, Saturday 17th August is rapidly approaching and County need to hit the ground running. I am of the opinion that this is a tall order, even for Ian Bogie who of course has experience at managing at this level of football with Gateshead, and can see a slow start to the season.

Not so much Mr Negativity on my shoulder but Mr Caution is back. If we are in the top half at Christmas I will be fairly content.

Anyway, the weather tonight (Tuesday 23rd July) is going to be warm but showery, so take a brolly and if you can get there early enough, take in a few of the many little pubs that Rammy offers.

It is about time we had a two or three goal to nil win… will this be the match?

I’ll leave you with this David and Bacharach ditty. We should adopt this with some County-esque lyrics given how many uncovered away ends we will standing in this season!
