Hot on the heels of the announcement of a new manager and the first tranche of departing players, we have some pre-season friendly dates penciled to report.

And decent games they are in my book.

First up on Sat. 18th July we have a home game against Conference National side FC Halifax at Edgeley park.

A decent test for a (presumably) new-look County side and I can already imagine strong sunshine cracking the flags along Castle Street as a decent crowd soaks in the rays (and pints) pre- and post-match.

Wednesday 22nd July County host a Bolton Wanderers side ( probably a mixture and reserves and youth players? ) and then a couple of days later on Friday 24th July County travel to Macclesfield for a 7:30 kick off.

I can see there may be those who would have the afternoon off work to sample the delights of the town!

The final game scheduled at the moment is another Edgeley Park cracker against our old foes Burnley on the evening of Tuesday 28th July.

Now, whether it is the ‘new manager’ effect or whatever, this little run of games has whetted my appetite for the new season.

I wonder if we will be running out with a side of 6-foot plus old hands this season and a plan to bludgeon the opposition into submission or whether we will see some young ball-playing prospects take to the field?

Cannot. Wait.

Those dates in more concise form:

Saturday 18th July – HOME – FC Halifax – 3pm KO
Wednesday 22nd July – HOME – Bolton Wanderers – 7.45pm KO
Friday 24th July – AWAY – Macclesfield Town – 7.30pm KO
Tuesday 28th July – HOME – Burnley – 7.45pm KO

Cropped.
