Last Chance?

County hope to get only their third home league win of the season against play-off hopefuls Wycombe.
Five home defeats in a row in the league have preceded tomorrows game and a loss would heap the pressure on boss Jim Gannon.
The last two meetings at Edgeley Park were the great win in December to send County through to the 3rd round of the FA Cup via a 2-1 win. And the second win came in a 2-0 stuffing with Stevie Gleeson and Anto Elding grabbing goals.
Wycombe lie 8th in the table and have recently sold our dear friend *ahem* to Plymouth on a loan/permanent transfer.

Vital Quotes:

Jim Gannon: ‘I think we’ve got a tremendous challenge now, whether we want to continue to play football and play the game in the right manner, or whether we play in a certain style that is supposedly much more effective in terms of results.’

‘The biggest problem my players have is taking something out of the Lincoln game and learning from their experiences.’

‘My biggest problem as a coach is that I see some of the coaching working, but then I see other aspects that are infuriating.’

‘That’s when I’ve made it quite clear to certain players how I want them to play effective football and it’s not happened.’

‘There are signs in the last three games that we’ve controlled the games better and we’ve got two skilful wingers involved in the game. Unfortunately, it’s fallen down a little bit in terms of our finishing.’

Paul Lambert: ‘They’re [County] doing ok so its a tough game for us, we had a tough time there last season so we will try and win this one.’

{Lambert was speaking to wycombewanderers.co.uk]

County Team News:

Jim Gannon could ring the changes after yet another home defeat. Thats five in a row. Which got Kilner sacked. Oh no, we drew with Staines, its alright.
Big Matty McNeil is unlikely to be fit in time and Rob Clare is out for yet another few months.
Midfielders Dominic Blizzard and Gary Dicker are STILL injured and will not be fit for the forseeable future.

Player to watch: Anthony Elding

Elding has looked disinterested since the suspension and even came to sit with the fans in the 2-1 win at Spotland. He was booed on Tuesday night after a few bad touches. Maybe fans that are willing to give Gannon more time should look at what their doing to our best striker.

Wycombe Team News:

Goalie Frank Fielding has left training for personal reason and reserve Rab Douglas will start.

Mike Williamson just recovered from a cruciate tear, but has now broken his arm in training. He didn’t walk under a ladder, did he?

Player to watch: Stefan Oakes

Oakes has a mean left foot and is very trick to deal with. The ex-Notts County favourite was praised as ‘The best passer in the country’ y ex boss John Gorman. Obviously he doesn’t own a TV.

Match Odds

County – 13/10
Draw – 12/5
Wycombe – 3/1

Ref Watch:

Mr Mason has been a pro referee since 2002, even refereeing in the top flight. County games under his ruling list as the 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield, the 1-0 win against Hartlepool and the 0-0 draw in the ‘Great Escape’ season against Chester.

Match Prediction:

0-2 Wycombe. Terrible home record unlikely to improve anytime soon.

What a completely mad game played on a lake. Logan did well a couple of times. Had the feeling that had we gone one down the Cheadle End would have done their trick and sapped what confidence the lads may have had left. Once that second went in I had a feeling we would vent some frustration. AP proved again he has talent. Will he be gone in January though?
