Sean McConville will return to Edgeley Park tonight with a Barrow side sitting 17th in the Blue Square Premier.

McConville never fulfilled his potential at Edgeley Park and has taken a downwards step after being one of the better players in League Two just two seasons ago.

It should be a tight game tonight with County yet to really start dominating at home, and Barrow have a real mixed bag of results away from home.

Vital Quotes:

County boss Jim Gannon: “We have to pick up the lads and prepare them now as we get back to the league,”

“We have to show that Southend is a blip and isn`t a reflection of the work we`re doing.”

Stockport County Team News:

County are likely to make some changes from the team that lost to Southend at weekend.

Paul Turnbull went off injured and may be rested, with Sam Sheridan coming back into the team. Tom Eckersley was cup-tied in the FA Cup and should return to the squad.

Danny Hattersley returned to action on Saturday and could start tonight, whilst Danny O’Donnell may return from injury to partner James Tunnicliffe at the back.

There is also a question over the goalkeeper – with Ian Ormson conceding another three goals at weekend Jim Gannon may rotate his keepers and bring Lewis King back in.

Likely line up: Ormson, Halls, Connor, Tunnicliffe, Newton, Kenyon, Mainwairing, Collins, Whitehead, Hobson, Hattersley

Player to watch: Craig Hobson

Hobson is starting to look comfortable now in the County team and is very much becoming the main man – he missed some chances on Saturday and will want to prove it was just a blip.

Barrow Team News:

Barrow drew 2-2 with Guiseley on Saturday and had no new injury scares.

They are likely to field a similar line up, with the only question being whether Sean McConville starts or stays on the bench.

Ex County winger Danny Rowe may also be in contention for a starting place after coming on the bench on Saturday.

Player to watch: Richie Baker

The midfielder was Barrow’s main man last season in the games against County, he set up the winner against County on Boxing Day and he caused County problems on New Years Day.

He will be one to watch in the midfield battle.
