Rammy in Round 1

County have drawn Ramsbottom United away in the first round proper of the FA Trophy. The game will be played at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium on Saturday 13 December 2014.

The Rams play in the Evo-stick Northern Premier League, Premier Division which is just one step below County so we can expect a tough encounter.

This is a cracking draw for Rammy, and a great day out for County fans.

For those unfamiliar with Ramsbottom, the town is just north of Bury and is a picturesque place with plenty of characterful public houses and nice cafe’s.

I think there is a black pudding throwing competition held annually but luckily this does not clash with our fixture!

Getting there by public transport would involve a tram to Bury and then a taxi or getting the East Lancashire steam railway from Bury Bolton Road to Ramsbottom.

The station, town centre pubs and eateries and the ground are all fairly close to each other.

I would imagine the locals population may turn out for this one.

The ground holds 2,000 and I would love to think it will be quite full and raucous come kick-off.

Record attendance was 1,653 against FC United in 2007. I wonder how close to that figure will this attendance be?

All in all a top away day and a chance to push deeper into the F A Trophy
