ROBINSON`S SUPPORT THE HATTERS HALF MARATHON

The Stockport County Supporters Co-operative is pleased to announce that the second Hatters Half marathon will take place on Sunday 4th September, 9-30 am.

This picturesque race starts from Edgeley Park and joins the Trans Pennine Trail at Woolpack Bridge and follows the River Mersey through to Northenden, forming a loop at Didsbury Golf Club and returning to the finish in Alexandra Park in Edgeley.

Last year`s event was won by Damian Nicholls in a time of 1:15:36 and Annette Bowden in 1:26:29sec.

The Wellspring resource centre is confirmed as the charity partner. Based on Harvey Street in the town centre, The Wellspring provides free support and services for homeless and disadvantaged people. Local communities who have benefitted include over 700 people sleeping rough in Stockport or Manchester who have been supported into housing of some description. www.thewellspring.co.uk

Hatters Half will benefit the Co-op`s Guardian Account. The objective is to purchase an asset for the supporters`, enabling long-term sustainability and security for the Club.

Robinson`s Brewery is pleased to sponsor the Hatters Half Marathon for the second year running. This will include sending their shire horses and vintage dray to the event, entering a team of ‘Dizzy Blondes` and providing significant financial support – which enables the event to proceed.

John Robinson, Brands Manager commented “We are delighted to support the Hatters Half; this is a community event, which helped raise circa £4,000 for local charities via sponsorship last year and a further £4,000 for the Co-op Guardian Account.”

Local running clubs have backed the Hatters Half, with Bramhall Runners, Wilmslow Running Club, Belle Vue Racers, Marple Runners and East Cheshire Harriers & Tameside AC all including the event in their Race Championships for 2016.

Poynton based, Crazy Legs Events will be providing the race management and chip timing has been introduced for this year`s event.

Entries are now open for the Hatters Half and are competitively priced at £17 for affiliated runners and £19 for non-affiliated – sign up at http://www.hattershalf.co.uk.

This includes a fantastic goodie bag and a match ticket to a Stockport County match.
