Season Ticket and rosy thoughts?

The official site is reporting the the deadline for the ‘early-bird’ Season tickets has been extended until this Monday (May 5th) noon

See here

Now, if you are planning to pop down this Bank Holiday Monday the official site also tells us:

‘Enjoy the Help the Hatters fund raising Car Boot Sale on Booth Street from 6am, pick up a bargain at Richard Landon`s end-of-season kit sale in the changing rooms from 10am and then snap up your cut-price season ticket at the Cheadle End before the price freeze ends – this will definitely be your last chance!

Season Ticket sales are reported to be running ahead of the figure at the same time last year.

All very good.

And as promised, I want to report some more good news.

‘CEO’ Ryan McKnight is to leave the club, (ok.. not breaking news I know).

Politely speaking, McKnight’s tenure could be seen by some to be divisive. Some fans vowing not to set foot in Edgeley Park whilst the young business boy was at the helm.

Crucially perhaps, some of these fans were amongst the most passionate and able of our fan base.

Cometh the hour then cometh…. well, quite a few from what I can gather.

County fan and IT savvy George Hudson (‘Sunny’ to those that know him) is working for the club voluntarily.

The official site’s recent communiqués seem to have become more engaging, warmer, with the ability to connect to the average County fan.

For those of us who received the season ticket renewal packs – weren’t they a step forward on recent years?

A real call to action. Nicely presented in blue and white with a tasteful smidge of amber.

Does it feels like the club is becoming more like it used be?

In addition the club announced the creation of some life presidents. Official site article here.

Isn’t it good to see what many felt was the injustice of Mike Flynn and his ‘non-testimonial’ righted at long last!

Another 100% County man now right at the very heart of the club.

In addition County have installed Bob Smith-Bewley as a life president (he of the ‘3 minutes of extra-time sponsored by RESB limited’ and someone I know from personal experience is another County fan to the core).

Angela White and Steve Cree join as life presidents too and Steve Bellis (‘midget gems’ and connections with China) is now back at the club.

It feels very much like the club is at long, long last moving forward and let’s not forget the Supporters Co-op.

Independent from the club and now with a 500+ membership, the co-op is continuing to grow and to exercise a beneficial influence (please get a buy the ground initiative running!).

Lastly and most definitely not least, Help The Hatters – those most worthy of County fans selflessly raising money for the club, continue to toil for the good of SCFC.

So, it’s all looking a bit rosy isn’t it?

Well.

I may be in a minority of one here but there still remains the thorny issue of those ‘dis-interested’ shareholders with their (presumed) outstanding loans and equity.

We had heard that they has all agreed to cancel loans, sell shares for a nominal fee and walk-away. It appears though that not all have.

The situation with these shareholders is on-going I believe.

The hundred that marched and the 2,000 odd the signed the petition to achieve the commitment of the shareholders to give up their stakes, believed they had achieved their aims.

Without a clean sheet the club will really struggle to get new investment.

And another mid table dirge of a season could be the end result.

Let’s hope it is just a case of waiting for the ink to dry but until then my season ticket money still remains in my back pocket
