Tranmere have sacked manager John Barnes and assistant Jason McAteer – two days before the televised clash with County.
Barnes has only guided Rovers to one league win this season, and following a defeat to Bury in the Paint Pot Trophy on Tuesday, the former Liverpool striker was relieved of his duties.
Normally, it’d mean a new manager coming in and his honeymoon period being a 5-0 thrashing of County, although County fans have some hope in that the physio will be guiding the team until a new manager is in place.
Unless he turns out to be the next Nigel Adkins…
