County play Yeovil Town tomorrow for the first time ever, as the first round proper of the FA Cup gets underway.

The Glovers will be without the services of Gareth Owen, who is on-loan, of course, from County. The former skipper is likely to make his move to Huish Park in January a permanent one, although Owen will not be allowed to play tomorrow in case of emergencies at Edgeley Park. Loan striker Gifton Noel-Williams has been given permission to play for Yeovil though, and Jim Gannon has been boosted by the news that striker Craig Davies has been given permission to start the game for the Hatters, although there is a little confusion on whether Wolves are going to allow Stevie Gleeson to take part.

County travel to Yeovil Town tomorrow, in one of few all League One Cup ties, having suffered just one defeat on their league travels in the whole of 2008.

Vital Quotes:

Jim Gannon: ‘Given our form in the league on the road we’ll be confident we can go there and give them a really good game.’

‘We’ll definitely be going there in good spirits.’

‘But Yeovil have done well themselves with three clean sheets on the trot and a fantastic win at Oldham at the weekend.’

‘Russell Slade has done a great job to galvanise their players and get them strong.’

‘They’ll be looking for a strong home performance in the FA Cup themselves.’

Craig Davies: ‘I didn’t know anybody’s name before the game on Saturday, I tried to have a look on the programme before the game.’

‘But I’m sure I’ll get the names right in the next week or so. I’ve played the lone striker role before when I was a bit younger.’

‘I’m willing to run and chase things down on my own and if I’m up there with somebody else that’s fair enough as well.’

Yeovil Team News:

BBC Sport:

Asmir Begovic’s return to Portsmouth means that Joshua Wagenaar keeps goal for Yeovil, but on-loan Gareth Owen is not allowed to face his parent club.

Loan striker Gifton Noel-Williams is on the bench due to lack of match fitness, but Terry Skiverton, Terrell Forbes and Aaron Brown are all fit for selection.

Player to watch: Gifton Noel-Williams

Noel-Williams looked as if he had the ability to go right to the top a few years back, but his career has faltered sligtly and now the on loan Millwall striker is trying to rebuild.

Although on the bench tomorrow, he will be ready for action whenever called upon and ready to strike his first goal in Green & White.

County Team News:

BBC Sport:

Stockport have been given permission by Oldham to include on-loan striker Craig Davies, who is with them until January.

Loanees Tony Kane, Fraser Forster and Jaroslaw Fojut have all left the club.

Player to watch: Craig Davies

Davies has been playing the lone strikers role in training and against Carlisle this week, yet he may settle better tomorrow with the aid of Peter Thompson.

Whichever formation County go with, Davies will be dying to send COunty through to the second round and get HIS first goal in Blue & White.

Match Odds

Yeovil – 11/8

Draw – 21/10

County – 13/8

Match Prediction:

1-1. A tight game tomorrow, and a Yeovil defence that has kept 3 clean sheets in a row will be a tough task to break down.
