Boss Gary Ablett has slammed the stand-in referee from Tuesday night’s defeat at Bristol after David Poole’s sending off late in the match.

Poole received a second yellow for a seemingly innocuous challenge, and Ablett pointed to the ‘none-reaction of the Bristol lads’ as evidence that the substitute referee Andy Bennett, after the first-half referee Dean Whitestone called it a night at half-time with a calf injury.

‘It’s not a place to learn your trade as a referee, which he was clearly doing. We need people out there who know the job. It was a very poor decision to send off David Poole and you only had to look at the reaction of the Rovers player involved to see that – or the none-reaction in this case.’

‘I thought we were the better team from start to finish. But Rovers defended very well and we made a very bad mistake for their goal – but the decision against Pooley sums up our season really.’

WOAH WOAH WOAH GAZZA…IT WAS A GOOD THING!

Yeah, Poole puts all the effort in the world in, as does Griffin, but these just aren’t League One players. You could argue we aren’t really a League One team at the moment, but these kind of players aren’t the ones we need going forward.

And we have our supposedly new owner Jim Melrose to thank for that…let’s wait and see.
