Accy V County

Accrington Stanley are preparing for an invasion from Stockport tomorrow afternoon, and getting ready to face a team coming into the game on the back of six straight wins.

When Accrington Stanley visited Edgeley Park on a chilly Friday night back in August, County had picked up just one point from the first three games. The game finished 1-1, meaning County had two from four and we looked like we would be in for another relegation battle.

However, County have picked up the form hugely and have won the last six games without conceding a goal.

Accrington come into the game having beaten Barnet 2-1 in their previous game, but have won just two of the last six.

Vital Quotes:

God: ‘Accrington are a good side with a good manager and there are no easy games there. We will have good support and we’re on a good run of form but we’ll have to be at our best to get a result.’

Somebody attempting to match God: ‘Stockport have done well but we can only govern how we play and if we play to our full potential, we can do what we’ve done in previous years for big games in front of big crowds, so I just hope we perform.’

Accrington Stanley Team News:

Peter Cavanagh (knee) and defender Danny Ventre (fractured tibia, I think thats a broken leg in posh terms) will both be out.

Ian Dunbavin, Andrew Tretton have both grazed their knees after falling from bikes and won’t play. Leighton McGivern twisted his ankle while on the trampoline and he’ll also miss out.

Player to watch: The bloke that scored the fluke..

Good defender is that lad. Also good at hitting the ball towards goal from 40 yards and watching Spencer dive a week too late. Still a good goal, even though it was credited to Glenn Murray on Soccer AM.

Stockport County Team News:

No fresh injury worries. Raynes, Bowler and Briggs are all still out.

Tes might return. Proudlock is out of form so Tes might come in with Elding upfront.

Player to watch: Blizzard

Not that type. See how he settles in as he plays Accrington for the second time this season, and for the second different club.

Match Odds

Accrington – 13/8
Draw – 21/10
County – 11/8

Ref Watch:

Some bloke who is going to try and ref the game, but really he hasn’t got a clue. Back to working in the corner shop anyway on Sunday morning.

I can’t find his name but I know it was the man who booked Mark Robinson at Cheltenham last year for doing the baby celebration.

Your Accrington news is wrong! “John Coleman’s available squad is starting to get a little larger with the return from injury of Peter Cavanagh and Danny Ventre who both came on as subs for the reserves on Wednesday, though Andy Tretton and Leighton McGivern both remain sidelined.” – thats what it should be lol

Good win – massive games and crowd against Walsall on Tuesday, 10 points clear of mid-table and only 8 points off top spot. If we win and results go our way on Tuesday we could go 5th and be only 5 points off top
