Are We Moving Closer To Safety?

So, all hints and rumours flying around recently would suggest that County are edging closer to a takeover and a final exit from administration.

Firstly, the administrators release a statement finally giving us some news other than ‘We’re working on it…’, in which they inform us that a Football League meeting took place on Monday and the ‘primary’ issue of sorting out fixture priority between County and Sale at EP has been sorted, and so they know wish for all interested consortia to finalise their bids. Strange, considering Jim Melrose was the only viable option last week. But we move on.

And today, County boss Gary Ablett comes out and tells the press that ‘we are getting to the stage where investment will be put into the club.’

He says: ‘We are getting to the stage where we hope some investment will be coming into the club in the next couple of weeks.

We can’t complain about the effort the boys have given since the start of the season, but the table doesn’t lie and we probably lack that bit of quality in the last third.’

Interesting. Hopefully we can cross all our fingers and toes and hope we can move on from this mess.

Because whatever happens, this whole sorry saga will never leave our side. Yeah, we may get out of admin and move on to survive in League One and become a positive attacking force under what could become a very potent coaching team headed by Ablett. Maybe.

But even if we do, we’ll still have to face the fact that so many local businessmen (self-employed businessmen) have lost so much money and even been put out of business by us living the dream and getting to Wembley. It was all a lie, let’s face it. But our lies and big-spending, though only temporarily haunting us, could always be haunting those who lost a great deal of money at our expense. Let’s wish that isn’t the case.

So just remember, we may be sorted soon. Maybe in a matter of weeks. Let’s hope so. But no matter what happens, there’ll always be a small reminder right behind us.

And that’s something our club can never overcome.

Looking on the positive side, we could be sorted soon and may be in need of another People’s Republic of Stockport surge. Let’s see what happens, and I’ll keep you updated right here.

Good points editor. You know what though, relief when we come out of admin but something has changed as you mention in the article, Its not the same and I fear some County fans have been lost forever.

Aye, I do think it isn’t lost though and with maybe some money for Ablett to show what he can do, a good few publicity stunts to get people back on track and a good push for the People’s Republic, we can go a short way to redeeming ourselves. Let’s hope…
