County midfielder Carl Baker has thanked all the County fans for their ‘overwhelming’ support after the top scorer’s brother tragically passed away last week.

Baker, speaking to the Stockport Express, said that ‘everyone from the girls in the office’ had been brilliant to him throughout the ordeal, and admitted he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the support shown to him.

Baker said: ‘It was actually the gaffer who broke the news to me on Thursday and I really appreciate the way he did it.’

‘He took me to one side and stayed with me for about 20 minutes because I was obviously in shock.’

‘Everyone at the club, down to the girls in the office, have been fantastic.’

The former Morecambe man also acknowledged the fantastic support he’s been given by the County fans, 150 of whom signed a card fro him at the game on Saturday at Yeovil.

‘The fans couldn’t have been better. The card brought a smile to my mum’s face and I definitely want to thank the fans for their support.’

‘I couldn’t wait to get home from the game and show my mum the card.’
