6,000 were at Edgeley Park for the second match on the trot as County were undone by the Bury midfield in a poor performance at Edgeley Park on Saturday.

County boss Jim Gannon changed the team around a lot from the victory against Macclesfield two weeks ago, as Bramble went out on the right wing, Beharall returned in the centre and it looked as though Dickinson was to play up front on his own.

Bury?s side included three ex County men, as Dave Challinor, Colin Woodthorpe and Jon Daly all returned to Edgeley Park.

County had an early penalty shout turned down, when a Briggs shot was blocked on the line by Tom Kennedy with his arm, but the referee didn?t see it.

Damien Allen placed a good free kick on Aidan Collins? head, but he could only direct it towards Kasper Schmeichel.

James Spencer was looking shaky in the County net, as he came out to collect a cross and dropped it and then the shot that followed us was also dropped and it rolled out for a corner.

He did pull of a good save just minutes later when a 25 yard shot was well saved, but Bury were to score from the following corner.

It was a good ball from Youngs around the 6 yard box and Jon Daly rose above Aidan Collins to head home and then Daly went on to taunt the Cheadle End by blowing kisses to the fans.

Bury then broke from the County kick off, and Tom Youngs hit the outside of the post as the Cheadle End started to get restless.

County went into half time with some unnecessary boo?s, but once again Jim Gannon left his team on the centre circle to get some practice.

Liam Dickinson had a good chance for County, as he broke away on the left wing from the Bury defence but he hit an awful shot which nearly hit the corner flag.

County then went more attacking, David Beharall was taken off and Matty Hamshaw was brought on and minutes later Mark Robinson was taken off at left back and Le Fondre was brought on as County looked to go 3-4-3.

Ian Ross saw his free kick go just wide of the left post as time started to run out for County to find an equaliser.

Matty Hamshaw was unlucky when he hit a shot from the right hand side of the penalty area, but nobody could get a touch on it to guide it into the net.

Dave Challinor nearly handed a goal to Adam Le Fondre, when his header back bounced giving Le Fondre a chance but he couldn?t reach it.

Michael Raynes made his long awaited return as he replaced Damien Allen on 75 minutes, but Raynes didn?t have affect the way the game was going and the game finished at 1-0 to Bury despite some late County pressuring.

It was bound to happen. Ex player returns to Edgeley Park and scores. It’s written in the code of honour as you enter EP that if your an ex player you have to score.

Great report. County were never at the races today. Good to see Bury bring a few and add to the atmosphere, particularly in the first half. Not good to see the bottom of the table though. Things have crept up on us again and I am now once again biting my fingernails.
