Deal and No Deal

County have released the list of players who have been offered deals and those who have not.

Deals have been offered to:

Ormson, Jacobs, Lees, O’Halloran, Fagbola, Duxbury, Moses, Milligan, Churchman, Lofthouse, Dennis, Todd

Of course, the lads listed could turn County down !

Deals have NOT been offered to Hand, Craney, Howard, Platt, Payne, Washburn, Charnock, Battersby

Now, I must be honest and those lists surprised me a little bit. I has assumed Fagbola, for all his physical attributes, seemed to go backwards last year. Perhaps Alan Lord sees potential not yet fulfilled and any development squad will see a lot of Jordan next season?

Even if all the players offered deals do start the season surely we need half a dozen players who are above the standard of division six?

A couple of Altrincham hot shots (Walshaw and Reeves – 50 goals between them and a rumour one may arrive) would be nice.

A ball winning defensive midfielder and a playmaker as well please.

Oh and a couple of players who can play anywhere across the back four.

What we do not know is whether Alan Lord has more funds than Ian Bogie had to spend during the last close season.

Surely what with County being a CEO lighter, and season tickets sales looking like they will be up on last season, and all those efficiencies we are told had to be made last season, well, we must have a bit more money to pay for a golden-six core of players?

We will find out in the next few weeks. Like we will find out about the remaining sleeping shareholders who may be putting off any investment.

Time ticks on, and for me, only promotion from this league will leave me happy.

Cant understand Howard not being offered a contract. Leading midfield goal scorer by a mile. How on earth has Fagbola and Dennis been offered contracts. I would also of released Moses, Milligan and Lofthouse, Kept Charnock and Platt. I was not convinced at the appointment of Alan Lord from the beginning and am still not. I am concerned that our meagre budget will be wasted. Nevertheless I have huge respect for the man and have never wanted to be more wrong about anything, but I don’t think he’s the man to take us up

I want AL to succeed and become a legend …. but …. got those same doubts.
We HAVE TO get out of this league next season. And not to the Northern Premier either.

I have tried to not allow this is get to me and put all my trust in Alan Lord. He surely must realise that we have to hit the ground running and fans will be on his back Bogie style if we don’t. As you say we have to get promotion this year, is there any sign of any Chinese investment if not why a pre season tour of china ? Shareholders need to dig deep into their pockets
and employ the players to make sure it happens. Then we as Fans can do what we do best and get right behind the Team. Alan Lord is no fool but requires backing otherwise it will be a very long Season – For me we still need more quality players to come on board, the next few weeks will be interesting.

Does seem a little inconsistent – if Fagbola is worth a punt in the 2nd XI, I’d have thought Moke was. Not that either are good enough for a starting place… Considering Howard’s stated loyalty to County, the only reasonable explanation is that AL has one or two even better lined up. News of singings is starting to come through, so I agree the next few weeks could be interesting. Possible ‘fire sale’ at Macc, of course bad for them, maybe good for us?

More quality players – certainly! There are those who are still holding back on Season Tickets waiting for some ambition ! A bit of money spent should lead to a bigger return.

Good point about Macc HD and I for one hope they don’t suffer like we have done….. though if there is a fire sale…..!
Must say I cannot remember looking at a new season and thinking I know absolutely nothing. Are the new players any good? Is the manager any good? I am just going to try to manage my expectations. First place or nowt!!

Cropped your comments on Season Tickets is true because I for one have still to renew my ST and as yet have seen nothing that will make me go out and do it.

RIP PAUL WILKINSON – Paul was a good County Player but will be best remembered for his continuous hard work he did raising money for various Charities and Causes. He was one of the Nice Guy’s and always had time for people, most of his work was unpaid even though he worked endless hours.
Paul was County through and Through and would do anything the Club asked of him, his love for the Club ultimately cost him his Marriage as he was never at home. I am Proud to say that Paul was a good friend of mine working together at Senior Aerospace BWT in Poynton – Paul did not drive so relied on people like myself to drive him around to get to see people to set up future events but he was a very likeable Guy and hard to say no too. Truly a Gent he will be sadly missed as Paul was
a big part in the Stockport County Family – RIP MATE – Thanks for Everything.
