CountyUnite was a website set up by fan Mark White in order to raise funds for training equipment etcetera for the players and management team at EP amid the financial problems, and their latest idea will prove a big hit.

Having already raised more than £3,200, a special 5-a-side tournament at Powerleague has been pencilled in for Sunday, March 28th.

And to add extra incentive for you, gaffer Gary Ablett has pledged to manage a County team including Paul Gerrard, Craig Madden and Richard Landon. Good luck against that lot!

The Hatters boss has also invited the winning team (obviously if the County side mentioned above were to win, the runners up would be classed as winners!) to get together a squad of 14 to go along and train at the Manor Farm training facility before playing an 11-a-side game against the SCFC squad.

Countyunite are looking for a maximum of 48 teams to play in the tournament which will kick off at Power League (Didsbury Road, Heaton Norris), at 12 noon. The tournament will be a group stage followed by knockout stages, Champions League style contest.

The price per player is £10 and you can register at www.countyunite.co.uk, the County Club Store or PowerLeague itself. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the 48 slots are allocated, and registration will close on March 14.

Don’t forget that every penny raised from the initiative will directly benefit Ablett and the lads at Timperley so please do your very best to support the event.

Countyunite raised another £200 plus quid tonight at the Bungalow meeting, so it’s very much supported by you lot, but keep going, and remember – Paul Gerrard forked out more than £1000 of his own money to pay for training equipment, a tenner from you is nothin’!
