First Defeat For Simmo

Paul Simpson suffered his first defeat as County boss as a good Hatters performance was not enough to gain the win over SPL side Inverness.

Ex-Hull and Bradford man Ryan Kendall started successive matches for County in a trial spell with Simpson’s pre-season squad, and he was paired with Barry Conlon once again.

Former Leeds keeper Ryan Jones was on the bench, an 18-year-old ‘keeper who has joined up with us on trial.

County created many second-half chances, the biggest one going to Conlon who scooped his effort over the bar from just inside the 18-yard-box.

A credible SCFC performance was not enough though, and Caley Thistle claimed the win with an 81st minute Shane Sutherland free header, which proved to be the only goal of the match at Witton Albion’s pretty lush Wincham Park playing surface.

Onto Woodley Sports on Wednesday night and then Glossop North End on Saturday – and we’ll have more details of that friendly soon.

Well done to Simmo and the lads, my prediction was pretty good. No shame whatsoever in losing 1-0 to a Scottish Premiership side bearing in mind we haven’t an established team, again well done. After this L2 will be no problem.

Very tempted. Glossop by train, beer or two, match, back to Manchester for a few pints after (Not the Waldorf though). Anyone else thinking of a few pints in Manchester after?
