‘I am delighted to have Alex and Craig aboard for next season. Like previous signings Sean Newton and Danny Hattersley we have been monitoring these players’ progress for quite a while and, similarly, I believe they have the potential to really add to our team for next season.
‘Alex gives us natural balance on the left side of midfield. He is physically competitive and displays very good defensive qualities so will provide good balancing qualities to our attacking full backs. He also displays a good forward pass, the technical ability to deliver good set plays and a knack for goals from central midfield.
‘Craig is a hardworking front-runner who will give us an extra attacking dimension. He has impressed me in several viewings with his receiving ability on the move, his clever forward movement and tireless work off the ball for his teammates. When given a good run in the Stalybridge Celtic team he had an impressive scoring run so I have faith that with him alongside Tom Elliott, Danny Hattersley and Danny Whitehead we will have a very vibrant and dynamic attacking line-up.
‘I have also been impressed with their personalities and character and believe that we also have two very good young men joining our staff.

If these two prove as good as Danny Hattersley then we should be a top half team, if not dare I tempt fate and say play offs?
These two have to be as good as Hattersley otherwise we would not be able to sign them, we can’t afford players for not playing and not being commited under the current financial situation. Each player that Jim signs has to be one for today and not tomorrow although with the long term in mind.
Well said MA. And Vicman… I expect top half now but cannot help thinking about a play-off position. Exciting times once again!
We have got to give these young players time to develop and not expect too much too soon. However as MA says they need to be able to perform to an adequate level more or less straight away
