LC Statement: 2015 Group Close In On Deal

A statement from the administrators of County, Leonard Curtis. This includes the good news of a period of exclusivity with the 2015 Group, ‘headed by prominent fan Dave Schofield and former CEO Sean Connelly.’

Joint-administrators John Titley and Paul Reeves released the following.

We are pleased to announce that we have entered into an exclusive agreement with the 2015 consortium headed by Sean Connelly and David Schofield in respect of their purchase of Stockport County Football Club.

We hope to progress to a sale of the Club by mid-May 2010 at the latest.

We would like to express our thanks for the continued support of the fans of Stockport County FC.

There will be no further comment from Leonard Curtis at this stage.

It appears as though Jim Melrose and his crew of failed businessmen (who’ve tried their hand and failed miserably at running clubs in speedway and hockey) have been shunned for the last time by the Football League and the administrators.

And the time is now for the 2015 Group, who have been efficient and fast-workers to get a deal on the table. Brought together by the brilliant Dave Schofield, incisive in bringing the fans together for protests and demonstrations before beating Melrose to the punch and sorting a deal out by people who care for the club.

Of course, having seen the Melrose deal knocked back countless times by the FL having already agreed a deal with the administrators, we do know from experience that this piece of news doesn’t necessarily mean it’s signed, sealed and delivered. But early signs from this group show that they are far more capable than Tatam and Horton. So let’s hope.

Along with Connelly, the group is backed by The Gibbons who tried to break a deal to invest in the club in 2005.

Rumours indicate that there could very well be a return to Edgeley Park by the man and his back-room staff who were devastatingly (for us as fans anyway!) made redundant by Leonard Curtis almost a year ago.
