Brentford boss Martin Allen has paid a glowing tribute to the Edgeley Park crowd after Saturday’s pulsating FA Cup tie.

He said ‘They are a massive asset to their team, there’s a brilliant crowd here and when they sense blood they can really lift their team’

County caretaker coach Jim Gannon also said how important the fans will be in the next 5 months.

He said ‘The fans influence a game in more ways than they can realise. We have to get the fans up and they in turn can get us up, but it is up to the team to provide the spark’

Martin Allen’s comments follow on from last season when he was scouting at a match between Tranmere and County at Prenton Park, ahead of County’s clash with Brentford, but his attention was continually drawn to the magnificent and vocal following of the Stockport County fans. So impressed was he that he took it upon himself to write a letter to the club, which was published in the club programme, praising the County fans.

Is Martin Allen a secret County fan??
