Melrose Consortium Bid Rejected

The Melrose Consortium bid to take-over Stockport County has been rejected by the FA. Where this leaves us now, I don’t know – but we understand that Jim Melrose and his backers will come again with a ‘substantially improved’ bid. For about the fiftieth time.

The FA turned down the formally submitted bid as cash-flow forecasts weren’t given by Melrose, who said that these forecasts would be submitted AFTER the bid was accepted – of course, the FA told Mr Melrose politely that that isn’t the way it works.

The former Celtic & Man City midfielder also offered £200k less than the required bid, although this isn’t believed to be the major sticking point on why the bid was rejected.

It just keeps getting worse.

Great stuff, I actually feel like giving up and staying away at the moment. Oh, and if we don’t exit admin by the end of the season we’re officially expelled from the Football League and the Conference.

I have accepted we will be relegatged this season. I have a feeling this will go all the way to the close season when I would not be surprised if a small number of local businessmen and County fans save the club. A new start in L2 but still no ground. County fans around the world may be called to arms. WE WILL NOT DIE!
