CountyUnite’s latest scheme – a 5-a-side football tournament to raise funds for the County squad, was a huge success and ended up raising over £1000 to go towards new training equipment and the like for the squad.

The event took place on Sunday at Powerleague, in a group stages followed by knock-out round style tournament.

Twenty-two teams entered to play, and I believe CountyUnite are looking to make the scheme a yearly event.

Though teams were entered of ‘Man City Legends’ and former County players in Rob Clare, Lee Todd and Tony Barras, the congratulations go to ‘The Guv’ners’ who sealed the win 3-1 in the final.

The Guv’ners are the Powerleague Division 1 champions, so you can see now the logic behind it!

In the end, £1203 was raised for the CountyUnite website, and a big well done to organiser Mark White and everyone who took part.

While there’s so much going wrong at our club at the moment, it’s so good to see something going right, albeit off the pitch!
