Hatters manager Paul Simpson admitted he was a relieved man after ending what has been a dreadful week on a high note.

County went into the match against Gary Johnson’s Peterborough as rank outsiders after back-to-back 5-0 defeats against Hereford and Morecambe but put in a gutsy display this afternoon.

‘We showed the response everybody was looking for, we got a replay nobody gave us a chance of achieving, and I think we have shown great character, a great willingness to work for each other and we have managed to defend set pieces properly which is something we have been working on all week.

‘This has probably been the worst week of my career both playing and managing but it has ended on a positive note and we can now look forward to the coming weeks and what is going to be a busy period and we have to be prepared for it.’
