Paul Simpson admitted he was dissapointed with the 3-3 draw against Crewe and blamed ‘defensive mistakes’ for his side’s failure to take all three points.

County were forced to come from behind twice in order to get a point against the Railwaymen but Simpson was left to dwell on what could have been a lot more.

”I’m very frustrated, we have gifted Crewe some really soft goals by not doing our jobs properly.

”The first goal we should have defended a lot better, there was one minute of the half to go and in them circumstances you have to just boot it into the stands but we haven’t done that. The second goal was another poor goal to concede.

”We have however also shown plenty of positives and I think the most pleasing thing is we have shown plenty of character.”

Simpson also hailed strike-duo Wesleigh Fletcher and George Donnelly for their role in the draw.

”George was excellent today, that’s the George we want to see every single week.

”I have also got to give credit to Wesleigh Fletcher, he was terrific today. He wasn’t feeling very well before the game, he could hardly breathe at half-time and we had to get the doctor to have a look at him.

”He told me at half-time he was exhausted and had no energy but if that is a Wesleigh Fletcher performance without any energy I would love to see one of his performances with plenty of it.”
