Paul Simspon admits he would like to add some players to his squad in the January transfer window if presented with the opportunity.

”I have a meeting with the directors on Monday which will allow me to discuss with them what I might be able to spend over the course of that month.

”I think it’s blatantly obvious to everyone that we need to strengthen the squad we have right now. I think the 18 players that we had available today were very strong, and we have Mark Lynch, Robbie Williams and Matty Mainwaring all to return at some point.

”I’m not talking about bringing in six or seven new players, that would be impossible. What I would like to do is bring two or three new faces in to freshen up the squad and give everybody at the club a little lift.”

Looking at our forward line (forget Conlon) and even though it is weak I reckon it is our strongest unit. A minus 20 goal difference says to me TWO decent defenders and an experienced midfielder please (if we have enough money to cover permanent or loan signings).

I wonder whether Donolly will be with us till the end of the season? Plymouth are in dire straits and have had trouble paying their players. So forget £100K to sign him which was never going to happen, maybe they will be only too happy to get rid in order to trim their wage bill and maybe we can grab George for nowt?
