Simpson Rues Lack Of Killer Instinct

County boss Paul Simpson was left ruing a ‘lack of a killer instinct in front of goal’ from his determined but ultimately unlucky County side on Saturday as Wycombe escaped Edgeley Park with a point.

Simpson did credit Wanderers Nikki Bull with a fine performance in the opposition goal, as the 28-year-old repelled every County attack that came his way.

‘Maybe we need to give credit to the opposition goalkeeper who pulled of a couple of fantastic saves.’

‘The only thing that was missing for us today was somebody poking the ball into the back of the net for us, and on another day we would have had 2 or 3. It was just one of those things today.’

‘The main thing for me is that if we keep performing like we did today and with the attitude that we had today, then that first win won’t be too far away.’

Simmo, who was given a very warm welcome by the County fans ahead of his first league game at EP, stated that it was a credit to his side that ‘there was an air of disappointment’ with only claiming two points from two very tough fixtures.

‘I think it shows how well we’ve done that we should be delighted with two points from two very hard teams to face, yet there’s a tinge of disappointment as we could have have all six.’

‘But the fans can rest assured that we’ll take all the confidence in the world from the game and go on to Stevenage fighting for those first three points.’

3,500 fans saw the game Saturday and boy were they loud. If they keep playing like they did second half surely the crowd size will increase possibly giving us more funds to delve into the player market. get down to EP people and help this wonderful club rise again, 09/10 was a blip.

Nice words vicman, can I add that I actually enjoyed the game for once as well. Early days but I think we are slowly moving in the right direction as a team and as a club.

You are correct Cropped, the team and the club are moving in the right direction. 3 points next Saturday is required if we are to keep the momentum going forward. Perhaps with just a couple of additions to the squad this club could move up the league. I know the saying of we need to walk before we can run, but perhaps we could start to trott. Come you blue’s.
