Stockport County v Yeovil Preview

It’s CC1 game 41 as the Hatters take on the Glovers at the Edgeley Bowl.

Nope. Razzamatazz just doesn’t work for me. Let us be honest, County have little to play for, Yeovil have a bit to play for and I just cannot get excited about this one.

Even though I am a ST holder I feel I am going to have to drag myself to EP today.

Still, if you are thinking of going, the weather will be mild with a small chance of a shower. I would have put the attendance as a sub 500 gate but thanks to the brilliant effort of County fans across the borough (a proliferation of stickers and Posters urging County fans to make a big effort to attend our last three home games have appeared in pubs, businesses, bus shelters and lamp posts) we may see 5000 plus.

So get down there. Sink a few pints before the match and get behind the lads

Conrad Logon has had his loan extended by a week, I think this will carry on for the rest of the season. Fon Willaims has had his shoulder op and is recovering. I think there is a good chance we will never see Fon Williams play for us again as he is maybe, our most important asset right now. Lets hope a bidding war ensues in the summer…

Mullins is back fit though and surely must start.

We drew 1-1 at their place and thumped them 5-0 in the cup at home in November.

Our scoring has rather dried up and our defence has sprung leaks. Yeovil are on the back of a three match unbeaten run and must see this as a game where they can nick three points.

Despite all that I am not going to predict an outcome today as I have not heard anything about team morale at training, nor whether Jim plans to lean motionless to one side for 90 minutes today.

Who knows, County 4 Yeovil 3. Anyone?

So, final appeal. If you are thinking about going to day PLEASE, PLEASE make that effort to pump some extra cash into the County rescue attempt.

Well, just got back from this game.As ol pop guessed a very stale game indeed.County in my opinion didn’t look too bad at all, strung lots of good passing moves together and thompson was superb at the back but as per seemed to be afraid when the final phase had to happen. We seriously need to improve our crossing and set pieces to kill off these type of games.Yeovil did not impress and didn’t look like a threat but i was dissapointed we did not get the three points.Gannon did not look happy to be there though and was far from his usual animated self stood leaning against the advertising boards not a nice sight at all and does not fill me with much hope.I love this team and hate all this negativity surrounding us at the minute.I O county

This should be a safe three points .. a comfortable win will get you back on track

Ol Pop mentioned Jim leaning on the ads and he was right about that too. The season has ended but it is not fair on us punters turning up. We should see fire in Jims belly every game. I am afraid to say this is one side of Jim Gannon that I do not really like. He is the incredible sulk at times despite his obvious ability to put together a good footballing side with limited resource.
Hate to say it but without major money coming in I think Jim is cert to leave.

I hate to say it but I agree with greyhound,I hope we are well and truly wrong but he just didn’t seem interested.Saying all of this though is it not to be expected that jim feels let down and dejected a tad?? After reading the stockport express and hearing what was being said around the cheadle end yesterday it sounds as though the club are not not treating the big G with the respect he deserves.I know we don’t know the ins and outs but apparently he was not aware dicker was going to brighton until last minute when they offerd a lump of cash in the deal!! I know we desperately need the money but jim has got to be one of the first people informed of any changes.Like greyhound said he can’t half sulk at times but in a way he has a right to,look where he has brought the club.I’m not saying he is untouchable and we should tip toe around him but for gods sake he is a crucial part of the clubs survival and he needs to be shown that the club is grateful for what he has achieved and hopefully where he is going to take us. I O county

Jim most certainly has reasons to be hacked off! I think he will go unless we have a miracle and a consortium with plenty of cash step in over the summer. Watching things unfold now is like watching a car crash in slow motion. You know what it about to happen but you can’t look away. We could be in for an awful L1 campaign next season and be looking at Macc as our derby in 2010-2011. Feel totally gutted by the whole affair. Thank God for the decent boozers around EP or I think I would not bother to turn up.

You are right. Gannon’s Body Language spoke volumes, the atmosphere was well below par. If you looked at some of the players expressions they looked at times dejected. In their defence it must be difficult to concentrate on the job with what is going on behind the scenes.

Incidentally why no Gannon Notes in Saturday’s programme – was a printing error? Answers please.

Talking about behind the scenes now the Debenture Holder wants their money back having requested repayment. It never rains but what it pours. The topic for discussion in my Block on Saturday was the “news” that Gannon did not know that Dicker had gone. How true this is I do not know. But if it is true then it explains Gannon’s Body Language.

The only good news is that according to The Chairman they are talking to The Council this week, interesting this – the beginning of a new Financial Year for the Council. Let’s hope that they have some funds for us to clear up this situation. If Bury Council and Cheltenham Council can help their respective clubs then why o’why cannot Stockport MBC help County.

Come on you fans lets make EP on Easter Monday a place to remember with a bumber holiday crowd.

  • Silver Surfer says:

I have been told that Gannon turned up at the Training Ground and asked were Dicker was and was told that he had gone to Brighton. No consultation apparently. This is no way to treat your Team Manager, it does nothing for morale and undermines Gannon. I am amazed he is still here. It can only be out of loyalty to the players.

The other “news” I was told is that Gannon is upset that his salary has been made public on the internet. How true this is I do not know.

It these rumours are not true then the embargo on Club Comment needs to be lifted as a matter of urgency. The Club should come out and deny them. This is one occasion when silence is damaging.

  • Kid Charlemagne says:

Shocking, shocking stuff SS. I really fear that Gannon will resign immediately after the last game at Brighton.

  • Silver Surfer says:

It gets worse or does it? The Debenture Holder wants their money back. Who is the Debenture Holder – only the person giving the guarantee for the overdraft at the Bank.

Fortunately they have given us time to pay, how much I do not know. As my granny used to say “it is one thing after another”
