It was a far cry from Edgeley Park and the ten goal show against Cardiff City on Saturday, but County had to test themselves and that`s why Jim Gannon brought his team to Andy Preece’s Worcester City side on a warm Tuesday night in July.

A minutes silence was well observed for Danny Bergara once again, and it was perfectly done by all in the ground.

But just as Saturday County fell behind early, Adam Burley capitalized on a mix up between Pilkington and Wilson and slotted his shot beyond Adam Legzdins in the County goal.

However County decided it was time to up the intensity, make it like a league match and cut out the silly mistakes.

Jason Taylor, Anthony Elding and Anthony Pilkington all had chances to equalise for County.

It was Elding, however, who got the equaliser. Adam Proudlock danced into the box and set Elding up for his first goal of the pre-season.

The second half saw County keep more of the ball and it was visible to all to see the better quality that County possess. No disrespect to Worcester of course, as far as most were concerned, this was the biggest test that County had been given during pre-season so far.

Chances were coming but goals weren’t, again a host of chances were missed throughout the second half.

And into the dying minutes, chances still came. A chance for Anthony Elding to secure the win was saved fantastically well by Worcester keeper McDonnell.

That was it for the game, 1-1. County’s biggest test so far, it was a really tough game. Credit to Worcester, they really gave County a run for their money. It’s nice to see Andy Preece has got something good going on there. He deserves it.

County visit Woodley Sports tonight for an Under 21 friendly that will probably feature a few first-teamers, it is unclear whether kick off is 7:30 or 7:45, so just get there for 7:30!
