It looks as though Stockport County have lost Liam Dickinson today as their local rag is reporting that he has signed for Derby County after a couple of weeks of negotiation between the two clubs.

County had laughed off Derby’s first bid, though it now looks like the transfer has gone through for something around the £500,000 mark.

Speaking about Dickinson, Derby manager Paul Jewell said: ‘He`s big, strong, hungry, works like a Trojan and can be a real good player. We have been very impressed with him in his performances for Stockport.’

Dickinson signed for County at the end of 2005 for around £2,000, and after he kept County up, before launching a play-off bid and then seeing County promoted, it looks as though County are going to make nearly £500,000 on Dickinson.

He scored 22 goals in the past season, including the winner which saw County promoted at Wembley.

Derby have just been relegated from the Premiership and are looking to bounce straight back up, it will be an interesting challenge for Dickinson.

Nothing is confirmed yet but it looks as though it will be, when it is we’ll let you know here first.

Gutted to be honest but always on the cards after last season. I certainly do not harbour any grudges against Dicko and will wish him well and look out for him. Half a million I suppose is decent…. so we get £350K less what Woodly negotiated? So money to go towards getting the ground back BUT we need to find a striker or two as well. Hmmm….

Well seems like you got a fair bit of money, should do well for Derby.

At least you are going to get more money than Derby were originally willing to pay.
