Stockport County have completed the signing of George Donnelly on a six-month loan signing from Plymouth Argyle.
Donnelly spent the majority of the second half of last season on loan here at Edgeley Park and will be looking to establish himself in league football this time round.
Donnelly is almost certainly a starting partner for Barry Conlon for when County meet Southend in just eight days time.
George scored four goals in nineteen appearances with The Hatters last season. An excellent move from Paul Simpson, with Donnelly providing the pace and strength up front – he was very impressive in League One so let’s see what he can do on a decent-length loan spell in League Two. I get the feeling from the Plymouth people I spoke to that Donnelly is not needed at Argyle and a full transfer could be in the offing if the striker impresses at EP in this six months. Come on County.

That’s more like it. Donnelly will score goals for us in League 2. An important piece of the jigsaw filled in my opinion.
Now, the ‘Edling would have returned if Jim had come back’… A few thoughts. Had Jim been talking to Elding (and presumably others) well before Gary Ablett had left? Was Jim always going to come back to EP before something happened to put him off rather than Jim ‘taking time out’. What would that ‘something happend’ have been? Has Sean Connolly left SCFC ? I suppose we should focus on the start of the season under Simpson but I would really love to know what the heck went on 3-4 weeks ago!
Elding had a good goal ratio but a massive amount of his goals were scored from penalties I personally thought he wasnt good enough, there was a guy I used to see at away games who changed the Elding song to………… …Elding Elding Anthony Elding he gets the ball and he doe F*** All Anthony Elding……………… I could see where he was coming from… his (Elding’s) first touch was horrendous
