Rochdale boss Keith Hill has revealed that Anthony Elding was close to signing for The Hatters as Jim Gannon edged nearer to a return as manager.
Elding was training with County as Peter Ward and Alan Lord took the pre-season training sessions, and Hill’s revelation strongly suggests that Gannon was indeed negotiating with possible transfer targets before his would-be inevitable return to Edgeley Park.
The former Boston striker has made no secret of his ‘love’ for SCFC and it’s fans in the past, and one has to wonder what might have been had both Gannon and ‘Eldo’ taken their places back at EP. Regardless of what some say, Elding scored goals. And he would have done again.
Despite Hill’s quotes, we’re now under Paul Simpson, Elding has gone to Rochdale, and we’ve today signed George Donnelly. So we’re moving on to Southend, come on County!

Hope he stays at ‘Dale
