FA Cup Q3 – Gainsborough Trinity

So, those at the FA jiggled their balls about a bit and out came Gainsborough Trinity as County’s opponents in round 3 of the qualifying bit of the F.A Cup.

Anybody thrilled?

It is just a few weeks ago when we met the ‘Holy Blues’ at EP and came away with a 3-1 win. At the time GTFC went into the match with a played 5 lost 5 record. So we made it 6 defeats out of 6 but since then Gainsborough have bounced back with 2 wins and a draw.

And now sit above County in the league.

So, a team above us in the league and good recent form. I wonder if this will be the case when we meet them on Saturday 12th October at 3pm

(Barrow were to be our Skrill North opponents that day – this fixture has no re-arranged date at the moment)

Win this and it is the 4th Qualifying round of the FA Cup where the Conference Premier clubs come in. Macc or Chester at home would be good I guess. Win in that round and we are into the 1st round proper of the club.

Once again reading this back leaves me feeling slightly woozy but this is the reality of the investment starved, emaciated and unloved (bar us fans) Stockport County AFC that we see today.

I really need to cheer up. Fancy a Chinese takeaway tonight? Always liked Chinese.

There. I feel better already.

Aye Cropped perhaps if your up Hazel Grove way you might pop into Man Kai on the London Road and get us Chow Mein special. Only kidding it’s just that when I was with you guys 18 months ago I had this meal from them and it kicked the Scottish version into a cocked hat. As for a win against Gainsborough we’ll need a prophet to forecast that one, but onward and upward.
