Fletcher Loan Extended

County have extended the loan of impressive Burnley striker Wes Fletcher until the middle of January, taking the youngster’s spell at Edgeley Park up to the 3-month mark.

‘Fletch’ endeared himself to the County faithful with a man-of-the-match performance and the winning goal at Gigg Lane against local rivals Bury a few weeks ago in our surprise victory, but since then the 19-year-old has been plagued by a mystery virus that has been halting the loanee’s progress.

But nonetheless, Hatters boss Paul Simpson has been suitably impressed with the Scouser and agreed a deal with ‘very helpful’ Burnley manager Brian Laws to extend the deal until January 15th.

A good peice of news. Fletcher and Donnolly make a decent nippy pair up front and I think good enough for L2. Things are on the up then? Not if you read todays Stockport Express. The board give full backing to Simpson but in the same breath make rumbling noises about ‘things must improve’ and how there is NO MONEY in January? Eh? Thought we were told there was some cash available? What is going on? Anyone clued up on this?

it is pretty clear its more of the same. Ship out some players if you can and hoep you are lucky with what you can find in the loan market. The words Alwin Thompson uses are a shot across the bows. Simpson may be on borrowed time. We need to win a couple between now and New Year I reckon. Tough ask.
