County skipper has backed Carl Baker’s proposed move to Coventry, saying that the midfielder deserves a move to a higher level after his exploits with County and Morecambe.

An official bid has not been placed by the Championship side, but rumours have been rife that Baker is set to depart and City boss Chris Coleman has admitted his interest in signing the play-maker.

And Raynes, the subject of interest from Scunthorpe and Norwich, supported Baker in his move if it went ahead.

‘I’ve not heard anything about myself leaving, but we’ve all heard the rumours about Carl going to Coventry.

‘If he goes then I’d like to wish him all the best because he’s an outstanding player and has earned the right to play at a higher level.’

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are the latest club to show an interest in sought-after keeper Owain fon Williams, whose being chased by a host of clubs including Leeds, Sunderland, Ipswich, West Ham and Cardiff. League leaders Leeds are said to be ‘winning the race’ for the Welshman, with Ipswich and Cardiff preferring to opt for loan as cover for their ‘keepers, and West Ham not wanting to risk the – albeit minimal in Premiership terms – funds to swoop for fon Williams.

Any transfers in and out of EP will be updated here as soon as they happen!

Players out. Fine. Working capital for Melrose / Tatum ? Or just a way to cut the amount needed to take over. We are sunk this year. We need to focus on what the heck we are going to look like for our L2 campaign in 10-11.
