Brian Kennedy states today that Sale Sharks are looking for an escape route out of Edgeley Park, and are ‘considering’ a move to Salford Reds’ new stadium when it opens in February of next year.

Kennedy, speaking to the Manchester Evening News, said:

“We are weighing up all the possibilities.”

“There are clearly possibilities in Salford as well as with Edgeley Park and elsewhere. There’s a lot of things to consider.”

Sharks have been the subject of the County fans’ ire over the past eight years, with the Hatters believing (rightfully so) that our club is locked in an increasingly unaffordable rent deal.

“We’re not yet ready to make a decision and we’ve also got to consider seriously what’s right for Stockport County because that’s important to us.”

“We are in the process of working on some initiatives that will help Stockport and hopefully give them the best chance of getting back up into League Two.”

“So all these things are a factor right now and are in the boiling pot we are considering and hopefully we’ll come up with some initiatives over the next month or so.”

“But clearly Salford is one option that we are considering very seriously and it’s one that the powers that be are keen on. We’re in the process of discussions and negotiations and we don’t know where that is going to end.”

“Considering a move.” Yeah right.

Cheerio Kennedy. Don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

If Sale go, presumable we get 100% of the conference and banqueting cash? So that may make the rent more affordable? Any bean counters know the rough amounts? Can we stay as tenants there and survive? If 2015’s end game is a new ground will we see EP continue to decay? Would SCFC buy the ground off Kennedy ? If they did would our new owners be stuck for building a new ground with no sports club to play there? I am still clueless about our future.

I’m with you Kid! I can’t imagine the football club can afford to buy EP, so I can only see us getting screwed over again!

To me because of the lack of information 2015 are looking to bury EP under some shopping mall. Given the lack of investment it’s the only way they can make any profit out of their worn out toy. To them it’s business to us it’s part of our lifeblood. As for Kennedy, he’s given us bull**** before so I’m not holding my breath as he will want a slice of the pie before he’s away. One final thought thanks to SMBC for everything they haven’t done, nice to know they care (not).
