Paul Simpson has called upon the County stayaways to get back to Edgeley Park and support his side, with the County boss hoping for some more players coming in through the EP doors with a bigger gate on matchdays.

‘Simmo’ has publicly stated recently that there is no money left in the pot after bringing in Manny Assoumani, Jordan Rose, Mark Lynch, Barry Conlon, George Donnelly and Jamie Proctor. But the ex-Carlisle boss has called for more fans to pay their money and support The Hatters on Saturdays to ‘give him an excuse to ask for more money’ from chairman Alwin Thompson.

“I’m not going to be stupid about it, we’re trying to run the football club as a business and we’re trying to make sure we stay in existence, but there’s going to come a point where we need more bodies in and improvements to what we’ve got.”

“It’ll we be a shame if the players work like they have done so far this season and then we get problems and we can’t get reinforcements in.”

“Hopefully, everybody can see that we’re trying to do things properly and we can get everyone pulling together.”

“If the supporters start coming, it will give me a cause to go and ask the chairman for a bit more money, it’s as simple as that.”

Simpson praised Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle for their willingness to help County out with bringing in Jamie Proctor and George Donnelly in on loan, and says that he’s ‘making calls all the time’ to ask other clubs for a bit of help with loanees.

“The only way we can bring someone in is if we’ve got clubs in our area helping us like Preston have because they’ve been fantastic with Jamie Proctor.”

“To be fair, Plymouth were brilliant with us as well over George returning.”

“We’re always looking to try and do things but it’s difficult because they’ve all got their own priorities.”

“We’ll keep working and trying to do things and working with the boys we’ve got because so far they’ve been magnificent.”

“But my main point here is for those fans who are staying at home or going out with the missus to get themselves through the turnstiles!”

Bring back the Go-Go-County days, those days we had 9000 to 10000 each home game. Come on people in Stockport lets get those days back, lets break through the 5000 next home game.

Like the thought M.A. Times have changed. The club needs to market itself … we need banners on the A6 in the town centre – make a splash in the press. Get the word out to those lapsed supporters to see if we can push 5,000 for the Shrewsbury game. They will be bringing a fair few I think. With a bit of a push we CAN get 5,000 in Edgeley park. Lets hope for a sunny Aug 28th and a bank holiday 3-0 win for the lads!

People wont just come to Edgeley Park cause Paul Simpson asked them to, times are hard people are losing their jobs left right and centre ……I believe the that the fans will come back when they have something to come back to cheer…. when they have some hope that we can compete on a level playing field (forgive the pun) when we have a chance of beating the teams we are playing….it will take time for that to happen but it will happen if we can look like a team thats going places again. By the way did the county fans notice Jim Gannon sat in the cheadle end for the Preston game?

Edgeley how do you propose to increase the clubs income if you dont bring more people through the turnstiles? It needs fans to rally round and support the club and the team through the turnstiles and improve the income to an extent that they can bring in a better quality of player to improve the team. Regarding Jim Gannon, let hime come to every game as long as he pays his turnstile money. Jim is in the past so lets support the future.

Mazarron Albert in every club there will always be a hardcore of supporters that will turn up week in week out irrespective of how their team are playing like we did last season then there will be the the ones that turn up now and then but the missing thousands that have fled edgeley park in the last four or five years will only come back if there is a chance we can compete on a level playing field, how on earth can you expect people to pay hard earned money to watch the rubbish we dealt up last season…hopefully simmo will give us a better direction then watch the missing thousands return
