Hatters boss Paul Simpson has revealed it is a huge relief to finally secure three points at Edgeley Park.

The Hatters came into the match, seven and-a-half months without a victory infront of the home fans but George Donnelly and Robbie Williams both found the net to make sure that record was finally put to bed.

‘We have waited a very long time and it is of course a huge relief. It was a big worry at the end when we got that third goal and it was dissallowed – we should have killed the game off.

‘The players were brilliant, they did look a little nervy at the end but I think we have shown great character to come from behind yet again.

I think it is fair to say we have played better this season and lost games, we have definitely played much better this season but it’s not always about the performance. The result is the most important thing. We’ve finally gotten rid of that monkey off our backs.’

Simpson also payed tribute to George Donnelly’s seventh goal of the season which got County back level at 1-1.

‘I was in the dugout shouting ‘Don’t shoot, Don’t Shoot’ but no it was a fantastic strike and George and Wes have shown a great understanding playing together today, they were both terrific.

‘There was good movement and good attitude shown by both of them today and I am really pleased with both of them.’

Well done guys was a bit worried in the first half when they were the better side I thought, then going one down so soon in the second…but the character again came through, thought Fletcher showed promise Donnelly was bril again blimey he has some pace which defenders hate.
Anyways onwards and upwards up the league I hope.

We were pretty poor in the 1st half and improved a bit after half-time but a wins a win and if we keep Donnelly surely we will stay up?

Can we hang onto Donnelly if he keeps finding the back of the net? If his parent club struggle they’ll want him back and to be honest other than the odd goal from elsewhere I can’t see where we would be without him
