The Ground, the Council and a Third Party

Without warning, under the radar and with stealth it appears a third party are interested in purchasing Edgeley Park with the intention of wiping it off the map to develop something or other.

Who says? Well the Manchester Evening News say so.

Have a read here

So the Asset of Community Value giving us six month grace apparently does not apply in this case? Is that poor journalism and a load of old tosh?

I think we can assume Cheshire sports, for a fair price, would love to offload Edgeley Park.

Would they sell to a developer who wanted to flatten Edgeley Park?

If so would the Council then be minded to offer this ‘third party’ land in return for a new (and you can bet cheapo flat-pack ) stadium?

Or will the Council step in, buy Edgeley Park and treat it as an asset for the borough?

In these dark days of austerity?

I do not think there is a single County fan who truely knows what is going on behind the scenes, all we do know is that Stockport MBC has a meeting on Wednesday and the subject of Edgeley Park and an offer to buy it by a third party is on the agenda.

It may be very significant, it may turn out to be dull as dish-water. … but just in case the Council are unsure of what Edgeley Park means to thousands of County fans
