‘The Onus Is On Them’

Gary Ablett believes that the all the pressure will be on Huddersfield at the Galpharm on Saturday to pick up a result against mid-table County.

Ablett claimed that the win over Leyton Orient on Saturday is County’s ‘bread and butter’ the season, aiming to pick up points against ‘sides in and around us in the league.’

The former Liverpool coach said:

‘I think games against the likes of Huddersfield and Leeds probably aren’t the ones you would target to get something from.’

‘We’re capable of going there and getting something, don’t get me wrong, but I think Saturday’s game was our bread and butter.’

‘We need to compete and beat the teams who are going to be in and around us in the league. We’ve climbed a few places in the table and we seem to be going in the right direction at the moment so we’ll wait and see how we get on against Huddersfield.’

‘The onus will be on them to come at us, and they will, but if we can defend like we did on Saturday and then have the quality and the composure when we’re passing the ball then who knows?’

County have already gone down to a strong Leeds Utd side at Elland Road this season, and being fair to Mr Ablett, I can see where he#s coming from in that anything other than a defeat should really be classed as a bonus against these promotion favourites. Having said that, with a strong squad containing the likes of Baker, Bridcutt, Bignall etc, whose to say we can’t cause a slight upset?

Come on County.

A point would be a great result but as I commented in the other article… I feel we are going to get humped. Hope I’m wrong as ever!

A few weeks ago, I’d agree. But with a much stronger squad now (Huntington,Bridcutt,Baker,Bignall), why can’t we get a result? Right now, I’d say the only thing preventing us from competing this season is the shambles going on behind the scenes!
