Rumours have been going around for the last couple of months that Paul Turnbull would be returning to County this summer in order to re-join his long term admirer Jim Gannon.

Paul has been told this week by Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd that he does have a future but he is well down the pecking order at the club and needs to work hard if he wants to be involved for next season, Boothroyd has stressed that Paul will be given a chance to impress throughout the pre-season.

Aidy Boothroys has said “If he stays and he`s a success, I`m happy with that,” he said. “I`m not sitting here thinking ‘I hope somebody comes in for him, I`ve got to move him on`, I`m not like that.

“We haven`t got any bad lads here, there isn`t someone you wouldn`t want in your dressing room but they will all want to go and play football.”

Therefore as John Routledge’s future looks on the rocks at County could Turnbull be a perfect replacement?

What are your thoughts, would you have Paul back?

Cant see it myself unless he takes a heafty drop in pay. Not the most gifted player and lacks a bit of vision but he is a grafter and will sweat blood. Every team needs a couple of those at any level.

Yes. I’d have him though as NE says, at the right money. Jim would develop him.

Was a decent player under pressure for us last season, but I don’t think he will be the type of player that Jim will be looking for. He fades in and out of the game without really putting his marker down. We have that type of player(s) already at the club. What we need at the moment is a decent Goalkeeper and another central defender.
