In amongst the furore over the shambles of a defeat at Morecambe last night, the one-month loan signing of ‘keeper Ryan Allsop slipped under the radar a bit.

Allsop, 18, is a YT keeper at West Brom, and has been allowed out for a month’s emergency loan by boss Roberto Di Matteo to cover for the suspended County sub keeper Ian Ormson.

Ormson was sent off in Monday night’s 4-1 home defeat in the FA Youth Cup to Tranmere, meaning the 17-year-old can’t take his place on the County bench for three matches. And of course Owain fon Williams is at Bury on loan for three months – meaning if Matty Glennon is injured or sent off, there would have been no cover.

But Albion are paying Allsop’s wages for the month and are happy to let the youngster come to Edgeley Park, although he is unlikely to play a first-team match.
